I'm not sure if it's worth the money, but here it goes.

I got tired of the totem axe for 55'n(n/mo 55/ss).
1pt of damage on Mt. Trolls, it's an ugly weapon, and every time you want to click a monster, you run at it.

Ended up posting on forums for a Req 0 Spear with inscription slot.
Somone suggested the Wintergreen Spear, because it has an inscription slot.
Ends up you can mod them also, so I slapped on an enchanting and went to kill some trolls.
I now do 2 points on trolls per attack, and it is a missile weapon, so no more running after a target If I use the mouse(I don't only use mouse to fight or even just to target)

So, it's a definate improvement. I have yet to get a shocking tip and go get some Enchanteds, I got too tired to put up with LA or to try enchanteds before damage mod for reference

Anyways, I see an improvement for caster 55's, even if it's only 1pt per hit.

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, didn't know where else it might go as it's more of a novel thing than somethign extremely useful.

why would you want to hit them with a ranged weapon? 55 are here to tank them... So it doesnt matter at all...

anyone else missing the point in this thread? 55's are there to tank not attack for 1-3 damage thats the SS job to kill stuff.when i 55 i stand and dance

heres a hint to get you using the correct weapon again. Its called OPTIONS. Go into it youll be supprised on what you find.

Im not sure why you added the '1 pt damage on trolls' thats just....durr we all know, if its a 55 you dont melee, period.
What skillbar are you using, because you obviously dont know the first bloddy thing about 55ing...

odd my weapon does 15+ damage. Oh thats right its a customized wand. 20% enchant weapons are not really needed as much as the 20/20 wands are.

for 55ing just like +5 ep on weapons. Wands still out do any melee or spear bow weapons. and if you are still relying on that 20% enchant just go 135 and use a staff.

I imagine a spear would be useful when the monsters scatter, so you can get them back. Most people switch to a wand for this, but a spear's prolly a better choice so you don't have to switch out. I've also found that if you keep attacking while farming groups of melee mobs, they tend to run away less. Or at least they return faster. Meh, not entirely sure what the cause is, but I don't really care because I don't farm melee mobs with 55 stuff anymore.

I'm almost a perfectionist, so I know I'll prolly look into grabbing a 5 energy spear with 20% enchant mod and whatnot. Even if I don't farm trolls with my 55 stuff anymore (Ele builds seem to work better now) I'll prolly grab it just for those situations... though I'll prolly never be in those situations...

Also, while 55s make awesome tanks and are used alot in the UW, their main purpose isn't always tanking. Their main purpose more often tends to be for farming, and in solo farming they deal pretty good damage by themselves. While staying alive is the mainstay theme of the 55, in solo farming situations it isn't their only ability. I find it interesting that people see 55s as just tanks for the UW. Uh, not that it isn't what they do but...

Hey, the OP is just trying to be a perfectionist - there isn't anything wrong with that. I'd take 2 damage over no damage any day of the week.

Now, whether that warrants dropping 30K (and your pride) on a giant candy cane? That's another story...

I did note that it's more of a novelty thing than somethign extremely useful.

It's a n/mo 55 build that uses Spiteful Spirit as the main damage for now + rotten(rotting?) flesh or similar aoe drain(all curses atm for 32 seconds or so of suffering)

I use the Enchant mod for extra time on Prot Spirit and healing breeze(when I need it).

I'm not out tanking the trolls using just the spear to deal damage.

I also use the mouse alot for targeting outside a group that's beating on me uselessly.(i don't like the keyboard commands for much other than skills, target closes, and sometimes wasd) Throw suffering/rotting flesh on the trolls that think they're save cause they ran away to hover in a corner. The spear enables me to not have to run up to something to whack at it, and that's not wrong, using a normal attack while 55'n, not always necessary, but doesn't hurt a thing.

But I do click the monsters or hit c + space on occasion, If I hit a troll 5, 6, 7, or 20 times, I'll be better off more times than solely casting. Sometimes they do only have a couple hit points left and it doesn't warrant using SS or anything like that. Of if you're in a tough croud and spamming spells, they all die at once but one or two, you're better off hitting C+Space, and chisel at the survivors while you use a drain(If you use the two Energy ^ enchantments) on them, let them hit you and build your energy so you don't have to wait to refill before you take on the enxt mob.

Sure other builds are better, I'm not out for raping the rolls ASAP and mapping to droks and going right back out the gate.
It's a game(gasp?), and for entertainment(NO! gold is all that matters), I'll wander around the map and kill everything I can solo(and chest hunt). Ever take your 55 by the crumbled wall that's full of tundra giants and avicara all grouped tight(there's a chest there on occasion)? I reccomend it, highly.

Flame me all you want, but I tried something different(gasp again) and ended up with a minimal gain, that can once in a while make all the difference in the world.

Personally I like using a sword more for 55's overall.

Me/mo sword is faster thus does more damage with IW. Or a Scyth for 3 targets

Mo/w Faster adrenaline due to faster attack speed, thus faster bonneti's.
N/mo Faster trigger of riposites thus faster trigger of SS.

Flatbow +20 Enchant for pulling ^^.

Damn, the people on this forum are like sharks...

Anyway, it's easier to pull aataxes with a +5 energy 20% enchant spear (if you don't want to risk Nightmare aggro) if you're soloing. Doesn't work all the time, but sometimes you miss an aggro ^^
